Event | Annual Dundee Open Doors Day 2026 at the School of Life Sciences Laboratories

Speakers include: Professor Dario Alessi, Director of the MRC PPU, Professor Oliver Bandmann, visiting from Sheffield University, Dr Esther Sammler, Clinical Programme Leader and Consultant neurologist, Miller Caldwell, PwP, author and musician
The team from Ninewells Clincal Research Centre will update us on PD trials currently open, including ACT-PD; Two junior researchers will also share an outline of the work they do here.
We will finish the talks with a visitor, known to many "Parkies", Rory Cellan-Jones, from the award winning podcast Movers and Shakers, will tell us about his book on the search for a cure

Join us for an amazing day of talks about scientific research being done here in Scotland, in Dundee, and hear from People with Parkinson's about their own journey and their understanding about the incredible work being done as scientists 'Search for the Cure'

This year's open doors day has an exciting panel of speakers as well as a fascinating opportunity to visit one of the Dundee labs in action, with young researchers on hand to guide you and to demistify their work.  

Attendance, in person, is free, but please sign up as soon as you can to ensure a place, registration will close on 13th January.

Lunch and refreshments throughout the day are included.

Programme

Arrival from 10am

10:00 to 10:30 – tea and coffee

10:30 to 12:30 – Presentations on Parkinson’s research 

12:30 to 13:45 – lunch

13:45 to 15:00 – lab tours in small groups

15:00 to 15:30 – closing summary, refreshments and departure
