Parky Poetry | Open the Doors Dario!

So, we’re at the Dundee RIG event,
The Life Science Open Day,
I’m trying hard to look intelligent,
At what the researchers have to say.
But I found that I was thinking,
In a random sort of way,
That if Dario had had a life misspent,
We’d not be sitting here today.
I wonder just how far we’d be,
To find a treatment or a cure,
If all these guys had been delinquents,
Suppose I’m not entirely sure.
Thankfully they’ve all been studious,
Became Professor’s and the like,
With massive brains for thinking science thoughts
On Petri dishes and suchlike.
So, let’s learn about the science,
And celebrate what they all do,
Trying to make the world a better place,
For the likes of me and you.
There’s lots of people here with me,
Some with Parkinson’s some not,
We’ve got one big thing in common,
This un-scientific lot.
That’s an interest in the work that’s done,
And the hope that we inspire,
These dedicated scientists,
To one day put out the fire.
Until then we will wait patiently,
We are called patients after all,
I wouldn’t want to hassle them,
Pride always comes before a fall.
But they keep on persevering,
They will never just give up,
I’d like to know what well they drink from,
And could I have a little sup?
When their experiments end up in dead ends,
They start again so many times,
And they still dust off their white lab coats,
They’re legends in their own lunchtimes!
